Politique de confidentialité
Dernière mise à jour — Effective: March 1, 2026
1. Introduction
Final Global Movement and its affiliated ministries and entities worldwide (collectively, "Final Global Movement," "FGM," "we," "us," or "our") operate The Emancipator daily devotional application (the "App") and website at emancipatorgld.org (the "Website"), collectively referred to as the "Service."
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our Service. By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information when you use the Service:
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address or phone number for authentication purposes. If you choose to sign in through Apple or Google, we receive the name and email address that you authorize those services to share with us. We also collect your first name (required) and last name (optional) during the onboarding process.
2.2 User Preferences
To personalize your experience, we store your preferences including your preferred language, timezone, font size, display theme (light or dark), and notification time for daily devotional reminders.
2.3 User-Generated Content
The Service allows you to create personal content associated with your account, including bookmarks (saved devotionals), personal notes on devotional entries, reactions ("This Blessed Me" indicators), and feedback messages you submit through the app. If you submit a bug report, we may collect device diagnostic information (operating system, app version, device model, and network status) alongside your message to help us resolve technical issues.
2.4 Usage Data
We track your reading progress to allow you to pick up where you left off and to show which devotional entries you have completed. This data is associated with your account and synced across your devices.
2.5 Device Information
If you enable push notifications, we collect your push notification token (a unique identifier assigned to your device by Apple or Google) and your device platform (iOS or Android). These tokens are used solely to deliver daily devotional reminders and important service announcements.
2.6 Log and Consent Data
When you grant or withdraw consent for specific data processing activities (such as analytics or push notifications), we record your IP address, browser or device user agent, the consent category, whether consent was granted or withdrawn, and the timestamp of your action. This consent log is append-only and serves as an audit trail for compliance purposes.
2.7 Analytics Data
With your explicit consent, we may collect anonymous usage analytics to understand how the Service is used and to improve the experience. Analytics data does not include the content of your notes, bookmarks, or feedback. You may opt out of analytics at any time through the app Settings without any impact on your use of the Service.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:
- Provide the Service. Deliver daily devotional content, sync your reading progress, bookmarks, and notes across your devices, and maintain your account.
- Send Notifications. Deliver daily devotional reminders at your preferred time and send important service announcements (such as updates to these terms).
- Respond to You. Process and respond to feedback, questions, and support requests you submit through the Service.
- Improve the Service. Analyze aggregated and anonymized usage patterns (with your consent) to identify areas for improvement, fix technical issues, and develop new features.
- Ensure Security. Monitor for unauthorized access, abuse, and security threats; enforce rate limits; and maintain the integrity of the Service.
- Comply with Legal Obligations. Fulfill our obligations under applicable laws and regulations, including responding to lawful data access requests.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that requires a legal basis for processing personal data, we rely on the following:
4.1 Consent
We process analytics data and send push notifications based on your explicit, freely given consent. You may withdraw consent at any time through the app Settings.
4.2 Performance of a Contract
Processing your account information, preferences, and user-generated content is necessary to provide you with the Service you have signed up for.
4.3 Legitimate Interest
We process certain data (such as log data and rate-limiting records) based on our legitimate interest in maintaining the security, stability, and performance of the Service. We balance these interests against your rights and freedoms.
5. Information Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising or ad targeting. We share information only with the following categories of service providers, strictly as necessary to operate the Service:
5.1 Infrastructure and Hosting
We use third-party cloud infrastructure and hosting providers for our database, authentication, file storage, and website hosting. Your account data, preferences, and user-generated content are stored on these providers' servers, which are contractually obligated to protect your data.
5.2 Authentication Providers
If you choose to sign in via Apple or Google, your authentication is processed through their respective OAuth services. We receive only the information you authorize them to share (typically your name and email address). We encourage you to review Apple's and Google's privacy policies for details on their data practices.
5.3 Push Notification Services
We use a third-party push notification delivery service to send notifications to your device. We share only your device push token and the notification content (devotional title and message). No other personal data is shared with this service.
5.4 Analytics and Error Reporting
With your consent, we may use third-party analytics services to collect anonymized usage data and error reporting services to capture and resolve technical issues. These services receive only anonymized or technical data and are contractually prohibited from using it for their own purposes.
6. Data Storage and Security
We take the security of your personal information seriously and implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect it:
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS (Transport Layer Security) and encrypted at rest on our infrastructure provider's servers.
- Authentication tokens on your device are stored in platform-native secure storage (iOS Keychain on Apple devices, Android Keystore on Android devices).
- Our database enforces row-level security, ensuring that each user can only access their own personal data.
- All API endpoints are protected by rate limiting to prevent abuse and input validation to guard against injection attacks.
- Administrative access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel and logged in an immutable audit trail.
While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to promptly addressing any security incidents.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information as follows:
- Account data and user-generated content are retained for the life of your account. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed.
- Consent records are maintained as an append-only log and are not deleted even upon account deletion, as they serve as a legal compliance audit trail.
- Administrative import files (devotional manuscripts uploaded by editors) are retained for 30 days for quality assurance, then deleted. These files do not contain user data.
- Content marked as deleted by administrators is soft-deleted (flagged as removed) rather than physically deleted from the database. Soft-deleted content is not accessible to users.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
8.1 All Users
- Access. You can view your personal information within the app at any time. You may also request a copy of your data by contacting us.
- Correction. You can update your profile information, preferences, and settings directly within the app.
- Deletion. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data through the app Settings. Account deletion is irreversible and removes your preferences, reading progress, bookmarks, notes, reactions, feedback, push tokens, and authentication record.
- Withdraw Consent. You can disable analytics and push notifications at any time in the app Settings.
8.2 European Economic Area and United Kingdom Residents (GDPR)
In addition to the rights above, if you are located in the EEA or UK, you have the right to:
- Restrict the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.
- Object to the processing of your personal data based on legitimate interests.
- Data Portability. Receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.
- Lodge a Complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority if you believe your rights have been violated.
8.3 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) provides you with the following additional rights:
- Right to Know. You have the right to request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
- Right to Delete. You have the right to request deletion of your personal information, which you can exercise through the in-app account deletion feature.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale. We do not sell your personal information. There is no sale to opt out of.
- Right to Non-Discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We require all users to confirm that they are 13 years of age or older when creating an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to promptly delete that information. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email address below.
10. International Data Transfers
The Service is operated from the United States and may use infrastructure located in various countries. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your personal information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries. Where required by applicable law, we implement appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect your data during international transfers.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. If we make material changes, we will notify you through an in-app notification, email to your registered address, or a prominent notice on the Website.
The "Effective" date at the top of this policy indicates when the most recent changes took effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.
