Unlike what many think today, the hope of the Apostles and the early church was not to die and go to "heaven". They understood that the full package of the salvation work of Jesus will be manifested in this world when physical death is eradicated (1 Corinthians 15:26). Though they were sure that if they died before then, they would resurrect (2 Corinthians 5:1-2), yet their ultimate goal was to live till mortality was swallowed up by life (verse 4). They were certain that that was Yahweh's ultimate plan for the church (verse 5). This was the hope of the Church - to experience the full package of salvation in this life, which is liberty of bodily incorruption. The key to this full salvation experience is Christ consciousness. For in Him is life only and no corruption at all.
Speak fervently in other tongues, declaring that no matter what it takes, you are arriving at Christ consciousness in Jesus' Name.
